A directory of NZ service providers for self-published authors

This is the privacy policy of the New Zealand Indie Publishing Directory, which is the property of Relish Media and Communications Ltd.

Collection of your personal information
There are many aspects of the website which can be viewed without providing personal information.

However, to submit a query to a service provider, leave a review and to create a service provider listing, you will need to submit personal information. This may include your name, address, a unique username and password and other details.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your review, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your review.

We also collect non-personal information about visitors to the website including browser type, version and language, operating system, pages viewed while browsing the website, page access times and referring website addresses. This information is used internally for the purpose of gauging visitor traffic, trends and delivering personalised content to you while you are at this website.

Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Use of your personal information
We may use or disclose personal information for the purpose of providing goods or services that you have requested, for the operation of our business, or as otherwise permitted by law. We will take reasonable steps to keep personal information secure.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Sharing of your personal information
We may hire other companies to provide services on our behalf, including to handle customer support enquiries, process transactions and freight goods. These companies will be permitted to obtain only the personal information they need to deliver the relevant service.
We will only provide personal information to other parties when we are legally required to do so.

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

Changes to this Privacy Policy
Use of the website indicates your acceptance of this Privacy Policy. If you have objections to the policy, you should not access or use the website. Relish Media and Communications Ltd reserves the right to make changes to the policy at any time. However, any changes will only apply to personal information collected after a change has been made.
