While my childhood dream was to become a lion tamer, eventually I grew up and decided that fending off typos might be safer than dealing with large carnivores. I became an editor and a writer, with more than twenty-five published short stories to my name.
I specialize in line and copy editing, the final steps on the path to publishing your work. This editing process involves checking spelling, grammar, syntax, and punctuation, as well as editing sentences for clarity and flow. I'll also look for continuity problems and any issues with world building.
I've worked on more than 100 books, both fiction and nonfiction. I'm happy to provide a sample edit to see if we will work well together.
I have a degree in creative writing, and a certificate in editing from SFU. I've also completed a number of short courses, including the Knowadays Becoming a Proofreader course. I've edited a range of work, including memoirs, children's books, fiction anthologies, self-help guides, and travel books, as well as shorter work such as dissertations, CVs, academic essays and blog posts.
I'm familiar with US, UK, and NZ/Australian English spelling and punctuation styles, and am proficient in APA and MLA citation styles.
